Our Founders

GMI’s founders have pursued a lifelong interest in risk, compliance, and finance.

O. Bruce Gupton

Bruce spent his early career with IBM and EDS, and later served as a consulting practice partner in the New York office of Price Waterhouse. He subsequently formed his own management consulting firm (ISS), working for clients such as American Express, Bank of America, Citigroup, GE, JP Morgan, Unilever, and Verizon. After selling ISS to Renaissance Solutions, he co-founded GMI with Frank Marrs in 2001.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina, and completed all course work for a PhD in accounting and information systems from New York University. He is a Certified Management Accountant and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Frank O. Marrs

Prior to co-founding GMI, Frank served as an accounting and auditing partner with KPMG for more than twenty years. He served on KPMG’s Management Committee as Vice Chairman of Audit and led the development and implementation of their quality strategy.

He received a Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting) degree from West Texas State University, and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has served on several AICPA subcommittees and co-authored Auditing Organizations Through a Strategic-Systems Lens, which received the Joint AICPA/AAA Collaboration Award.
